The primary mission of the Sturbridge Fire Department is to the protection of life and
property from fire and other disasters or emergencies. Included within this mission are a
number of other major tactical activities:
Providing rescues and or medical response in case of fire, accident, natural disaster, or
Maintaining a regular routine of fire prevention activities, including inspection of town
Educating citizens of the Town Of Sturbridge in prevention activities, and techniques.
Ensuring ongoing training and readiness of members of the department.
Maintaining the property, equipment and other assets assigned to the department.
Investigating the causes of fire with an aim to prevent future recurrences.
A Message From the Sturbridge Fire Prevention Bureau
The Sturbridge Fire Department wishes to remind residents and realtors that a smoke detector inspection must be conducted prior to the sale of any property.
After you have a closing date:
Contact the Sturbridg Fire Department to schedule an inspection of your smoke
and carbon monoxide detectors right away. Do not wait until the last minute!
Please contact the department at least ten (10) business days prior
to the closing date to schedule your inspection.
You may call to schedule your inspection Monday through Friday from 8AM to 12PM.

On behalf of the members of the Town of Sturbridge Fire Department, I would like to
thank you for taking the time to visit our Web page. The Sturbridge Fire Department is
the sole provider of fire protection, rescue, emergency medical services, and fire
prevention and education programs to the Town of Sturbridge. Founded in 1934 as a
largely volunteer effort, the department has grown over the years to include having
personnel on duty in the station 24 hours a day in order to respond efficiently to any
calls for service from our customers.
As a team, we strive daily to prepare ourselves for whatever situation we may be called
to assist, and consistently work together to better ourselves through training and
education. Our priority is to deliver the highest quality emergency services within our
community when duty calls. Our goal is to ensure the citizens that live or work in our
community know that the members of the Sturbridge Fire Department are ready to
respond whenever help is called for.
