FIREFIGHTER / PARAMEDIC
The Town of Sturbridge Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of full-time fire-fighter/paramedic. The position(s) are being partially funded from the Assistance to Firefighters SAFER Grant.
Minimum requirements include high school diploma or GED, non-smoker, valid MA driver’s license, and certification as a National Registry EMT. The ideal candidate for the position is progressive in the fire, rescue and EMS field and is a MFA graduate; Firefighter I/II certified; Paramedic certification and possess other advanced qualifications and degrees. Candidates should be customer service oriented.
The starting salary range is $19.16 to $22.77 per hour, DOQ. Full time members work a 24 hour shift, 48 hours per work week. Other benefits include paid vacation, sick time, uniform allowance, training reimbursement, and medical/dental insurance, as described within the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Candidates will be subjected to several interview panels, a medical examination, a Physical Ability Test, and a rigorous background investigation as part of the hiring process. Successful candidates who are not already certified as a Paramedic will be required to obtain Paramedic certification as a condition of employment. They also must reside within 15 miles of the Town of Sturbridge within one (1) year of appointment.
