The Town of Sturbridge Open Space Committee is currently working on updating the Open Space and Recreation Plan that was completed in 2011. Here's what we're working on:
- Public Participation. On Wednesday, April 11, 2018 there was a Public Forum. A huge thank you to the Publick House for providing the space and refreshments. You can learn more about what the Public Forum involed here.
- Open Space & Recreation Survey. The survey period is now closed. The data has been compiled and was presented at the Public Forum. Thank you for your responses. We got some great feedback on atheletic fields, hiking trails, swimming, and dog parks just to name some hot topics.
- Photo Contest. This year we wanted to find a way to allow residents to get more involved with the Open Space and Recreation Plan. Prizes were awarded to five age categories and one Best in Show prize. Thank you to the Public House, The Oxhead Tavern, The Village Grille for wonderful donations, as well as prizes donated by the Conservation and Planning Departments.
- Mostly important, get outside! Not sure where to start? Check out the 2011 Open Space & Recreation Plan to discover some of the hidden gems in town. And keep an eye out for the Updated 2018 Plan to be coming out this spring.
The Town of Sturbridge Open Space Committee completed the Town of Sturbridge Open Space and Recreation Plan in 2011. This plan was reviewed and approved by The Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and is valid through May 18, 2018. The Open Space Plan can be viewed in its entirety here. Due to the large file size, the Plan has been divided into Sections to aid in downloading.
